Local Juice
We have been collecting apples with the Gillberga Development Group for Gillberga Juice every year since 2013, and there has been a high demand for the juice. It is gratifying and actually constitutes one of our core ideas to use all these apples in the area that would otherwise go to waste.
We planted more than 150 apple trees in 2015 and started a juice press at the farm in 2017 so everyone can come and let us press their apples.
Our apple juice consists of 100% pressed fine local apples. Low pasteurized, no additives or sugar. You can taste it. That’s why we juice!
The juice press opens
The juice press usually presses from September until the beginning of October. Drop off apples on Saturdays or Sundays, but always call to check if we have space and before you start picking. See current opening hours on the website (closed on market days, see news).
From September 13, this year's juice will be available in bottles and 3-liter packages to pick up at our farm shop or to order via the Reko ring.
You can come to us with your apples in the fall
We will juice your apples and then pasteurize and package them in 3-liter containers that you can pick up later. To avoid waiting, book a time for drop-off via the contact form or call.
You can drop off fall and winter apples that are not soft, rotten, and have intact skins. Spots and blemishes on apples are not a problem, as well as whole windfall fruits. Even light brown bruises work. Dark, severely damaged, moldy, or rotten apples will be removed. Also, be careful not to pick windfall fruit from areas where animals graze.
To avoid!
Overripe apples become mealy. We do not press mealy apples as they produce poor juice and clog the press cloth. An overripe apple is soft and does not crunch when you bite into it.
You cannot press fallen fruit from horse, cow, or sheep pastures as these may contain E. coli bacteria. You also cannot press apples that have turned dark brown, become moldy, or started to rot as they develop the toxin patulin.
We pay you 4 SEK/kg for your apples.
We accept all varieties but not if they are too soft, see previous text 'To avoid'.
To make 100% juice from your own apples, submit at least 75 kg (about 5 banana boxes). Otherwise, it is possible to mix with other varieties if we have them in stock.
Every 6 kg of apples yields 1 package of 3 liters of juice. If you submit 33 kg or more, you will receive one package at no cost.
Note! We have changed the rules this year so that you always buy back your juice if you submit apples.
Example: Submitting 66 kg will yield 11 x 3-liter packages. You get money that covers 2 packages and pay for 9 packages.
